Arrowhead Yacht Club was built in 1969
and began as not much more than a
fishing cabin. In 1976 Joe Harwood and some other investors bought the
property mostly for the boat sales opportunity and the boat service
department which was the only one on Grand Lake at the time.
The Yacht
Club
had humble beginings as just a hang out for Joe and his friends and
customers
to drink beer and play pool. Eventually he started selling hamburgers and
other "roadhouse" fare. Finally he decided to hire a
"real" chef and have a
"real" Yacht Club.
Over the next 10 years he built a reputation
for
outstanding personal service and the best food on the Lake. About 4 years
ago
Joe decided that in order to maintain the Best Yacht Club on the Lake
status
that he had worked so hard for he would have to offer a few more amenities
to his membership. So began his long journey to create not just the best
Yacht Club on Grand Lake but the best in fresh water Yacht Club in the
United
States.
Never stuffy or too formal Arrowhead strives to be a club were
families and friends of all ages and interests can relax and have a good
time
in a place they feel they own. Members know the staff and the staff know
the
members. The new club is scheduled to be complete in the first half of
2002.
